ZBA, Inc. and CCSi Software “Drive” Taxi Applications Wirelessly
Hillsborough, New Jersey – June 10, 2009 - ZBA, Inc. (Hillsborough, NJ) has announced their partnership with CCSi (St. George, UT) to interface their ZBL830 Bluetooth adapters to CCSi’s Taxi Reservation Solution package.
CCSI provides complete taxi dispatch services to its clients, including reservation processing, dispatch and server hosting providing a hassle-free and virtually capital-outlay free way for a taxi company to automate their business operations. The taxi drivers are outfitted with a RIM Blackberry device over a Sprint/Nextel network, with custom developed CCSi software, to communicate to the dispatch host. CCSi sources the ZBA ZBL830 Bluetooth adapter to facilitate communication between the taxi meter and the Blackberry.

“Our systems allow the drivers to swipe the customer’s credit card through the meter rather than having to purchase a Blackberry specific swipe device. This process facilitates receipt printing on the printer attached to the meter and transmission of the meter state changes to the dispatch host”, says CCSi General Manager Egor Shulman.

CCSi has procured hundreds of these adapters from ZBA and the numbers are increasing. “We are extremely pleased with the ZBA product performance, customer service responsiveness and especially the ZBA tech support availability and aggressiveness in addressing any user problems”, adds Shulman.

“This powerful system from CCSi brings significant features and benefits to the cab companies”, notes Thomas Bisconti, ZBA Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

In addition, the system allows CCSi software running on the Blackberry to ensure that the drivers are within reasonable proximity of the taxis (approx 30 ft.) in order to monitor the co-location of the drivers and their vehicles and then control the latter by making certain functions inoperable if the ZBA Bluetooth device is out of range. “Using our Class 2 Bluetooth adapter actually helps to limit the potential for the driver to wander too far from the vehicle”, notes Bisconti.

At present, the CCSi/ZBA systems are operational at cab companies in Nashville, TN, Charlotte, NC and Raleigh Durham, NC
