Hillsborough, New Jersey – July 7, 2009 – ZBA, Inc. (Hillsborough, NJ) and the Pennsylvania State University (PSU – State College, PA) have announced their joint efforts to expand and make more secure the newest PSU testing center. ZBA has supplied their ZADM123-RB-LED Universal Dual Head Magnetic Stripe Reader to aid in the admissions process of students to the test center.
“Our system now paces the students and makes the process a less stressful eventâ€Â, notes Christopher Sacksteder, PSU Manager, Systems Development. “The system manages student movements regarding entry and station assignment by controlling the turnstiles and giving various visual and audio cues using the ZBA card reader’s LED and beeper and an LCD display mounted on the turnstilesâ€Â, adds Sacksteder. In addition to giving very busy professors more flexibility in the type and timing of the exams they give, the center represents one of the most comprehensive efforts nationwide to discourage cheating.
†With 3 active lanes, the PSU entry system can admit 150 students in 15 minutesâ€Â, adds Sacksteder. “The dual head feature was critical to the success of the application because it is often difficult to instruct infrequent users on how to orient their ID cards for single head readers. ZBA followed-up technical questions quickly and accurately. We appreciate and have come to depend on that level of supportâ€Â, concludes Sacksteder.
